NEW YORK CITY. I woke up early Saturday and made my way to volunteer at the Women's Homeless Shelter at the Armory on Park and 68th. One of our Obama allies organizes a gelato, stess relief, time to heal hour. And the women were stressed because there was SO MUCH fighting the night before. These women are a reminder of what happens to people live without a safety net. Next I made my way down to City Hall to support our workers from all over the city. We are all SO inspired by Wisconsin and the fight for jobs. Funny how those Republicans who ran on creating jobs do nothing but try to take them away. I love the ingenious signs, but especially all the cheese heads. Many of us walked right from this rally to the Women's Health Rally at Foley Square. Who would have guessed we still have to fight to keep changes that help women? Hmmm, many less naive than me. Then, this morning many of the same volunteers from yesterday made their way back uptown to another homeless shelter for breakfast for and with some residents at 81st Street. And so it has been a full circle weekend. But the overall theme was we can't right all wrongs but we can fight the wrongs of the right. “Man’s capacity for justice makes democracy possible; but man’s inclination to injustice makes democracy necessary.”–Reinhold Niebuhr
